Practicum in STEM

STEM

This class is a combination of our student interns and our CTE outreach trailer. Student internships begin in their junior year with a preparatory course in soft skills related to job placement. Students are selected through a rigorous process and interviewed by Lockheed Martin, Textron, Bell helicopter, Siemens to name a few.

 Bryan Davis
Practicum in STEM (Mobile Classroom)   I   Aerospace Engineering  

Bryan Davis is beginning his third year teaching Practicum STEM (Mobile Classroom) at KCAL and is excited to add Aerospace Engineering to his class load this year.

He grew up in the nearby area and graduated from Haltom High School before going off to Stephen F. Austin State University to pursue a history degree and a teaching certificate.

He began his teaching career in 1999 at Azle Junior High and then moved to Harwood Junior High in HEB ISD the following year. He spent 20 years there, teaching Texas History and then STEM.

His wonderful wife, Melissa, teaches next door at Indian Springs Middle and their twins, Reese and Aidan, are seniors at Richland High. Mr. Davis enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, Disney and motorsports.

 Shawn Schmuck

Shawn Schmuck teaches Robotics I, Intro to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and Practicum STEM (Solar Car).

He studied Mechanical Engineering at Oral Roberts University and Mathematics at Wester Michigan University.

Before becoming an educator, Mr. Schmuck worked in the auto industry designing stamping dies and inspected water towers in the Great Lakes region.

He moved to Texas in 2010 to teach Engineering and Robotics in Ft. Worth ISD, and then transferred to Keller ISD in 2014.

Ed Lugo is a first-year teacher who teaches Civil Engineering and Solar Car. He comes to KCAL from working in manufacturing and is excited to start teaching.

He graduated from Texas A&M, Gig 'Em Aggies!

Mr. Lugo has a beautiful wife, Christine Lugo, and three awesome boys, Eddie, Robert and George. Eddie will be playing Collegiate baseball this year. They are very proud of his hard work. In his free time, his family enjoys the outdoors and likes to fish and golf together whenever they can.
